BREWERY CLAIMS FOUR COUNTRY WINNERS AT 2023 WORLD BEER AWARDS
Round Corner Brewing Claim An Impressive Eight Medals In London
Round Corner Brewing have claimed an impressive four country winner medals at the 2023 World Beer Awards in London, along with an additional four beers picking up respective silver and bronze medals.
Held annually in London, the Melton Mowbray brewery has an impressive history at the World Beer Awards, claiming medals every year since 2020. However, for 2023 they have returned to the East Midlands with their most impressive accomplishment, four country winners and the most awarded UK brewery at the 2023 World Beer Awards.
The four beers which claimed the England Country Winner varied from lager to IPA, showing testament to the brewery’s impressive ability to brew a variety of beer styles to an award-winning standard. Alongside their Country Winner status, each of the four beers also claimed the gold medal in England too.
Winning the England Country Winner Lager Dark category was Gunmetal. A black lager which is no stranger to awards having previously won Gold at the 2023 European Beer Challenge, 2020 World Beer Awards and 2019 International Brewing Awards. Gunmetal is a beautiful-looking beer, dark brown in colour with deep garnet highlights and a crema-like foam.
Beneath The Streets, Keller Pils claimed England Country Winner Lager Zwickl / Pale Kellerbier. A Market Edition beer, the brewery's limited-edition range, was brewed for the first time in 2023. This beer has exceptional length, a rich bready malt canvas and lashings of New Zealand Pacifica hops.
Rounding off the lager winners for the brewery was Frisby, Lager. Awarded England Country Winner Lager Classic Pilsner. This lager contains the finest German pilsner malt and English wheat malt to forge a classically smooth lager beer. Claiming silver at the 2022 World Beer Awards and 2023 European Beer Challenge, it’s the highest accolade for this lager so far.
The fourth and final country medal winner went to 10 Hours In L.A., Pacific Pale Ale. This beer was awarded England Country Winner IPA Specialty. Changing its style and ABV for 2023, this is Round Corner Brewing’s vision of the perfect Pacific Pale Ale - deliciously soft with a restrained bitterness and luscious tropical fruit hop aroma.
Not to be dismissed, the brewery claimed an additional four medals. There were silver medals for Steeplechase, Pale Ale. A beer which has claimed a host of accolades, with Trophy for World’s Best Ale at the 2021 International Brewing Awards.
Bringing home the additional medals for the Melton Mowbray brewery were three bronzes, which went to Drovers Hazy Vermont Session IPA, Follow The Green Line New Zealand Pale Ale and Jandals & Togs Gluten Free Super Session Pale Ale.
The World Beer Awards are global awards selecting the very best in all the international recognised styles, awarding and promoting the world’s best beers to consumers and trade across the globe.
For Round Corner Brewing this achievement adds to a strong start to 2023, with plenty more exciting moments on the horizon for the brewery. The team will be attending the London Craft Beer Festival this weekend 11-12 August and will be pouring a new Market Edition release which is launching at the festival.
